The world
Ninety minutes ago, a research facility off the coast reported what officials are calling a "containment event." Thirty minutes ago, the facility went dark. Local emergency services have been kept off the perimeter by federal personnel who arrived faster than they could have driven there. The cable feed is intermittent. A small local news station is the only outlet still broadcasting. People who used to work at the facility, people who live near it, and someone who is still inside it are calling in. No one knows what was contained. No one knows what got out. The night is just starting.
Visual direction

Cinematic, low-light, found-footage adjacent. Cool color palette with warm practical lights (lamps, monitors, emergency lighting). Slightly over-real, the way late-night news footage feels when something is wrong. Vertical 9:16 framing throughout. Plates should always leave the center third clear for the performer to be composited into.

The roles

4 roles — each records from a different vantage. Roles can't be swapped mid-session.

The Local

phone_call

A long-time resident who lives within sight of the facility. Calling the late-night news from their dark front porch.

Direction

Speak quietly. You don't want neighbors to know you called. You are not panicked — you are someone who has been quietly correct about something for weeks and is now being proven right.

The Anchor

on_air

The late-shift host at the local news station. Holding the broadcast together as it becomes the story.

Direction

Speak with newsroom authority. Allow one small crack. You can hold yourself together. Mostly.

The Insider

secret_recording

Inside the facility, or just outside the perimeter. Recording on a phone with the brightness all the way down. Should not be calling.

Direction

If you hear something, stop talking. If you have to move, take the camera with you. You are scared. You are not panicked. There is a difference.

The Former Employee

private_recording

Used to work at the facility. Left under unclear circumstances about a year ago. Watching from home tonight. Has not called the station.

Direction

Speak as if you are alone. Because you are. Do not perform fear. Perform someone who has been preparing for this for a year.
